Welcome! A brief History ….
Hello and Welcome!
I’m Suzy, and to give you a brief background, I’m British and left England 30 years ago to follow my husband on his international career in the tire business. For the last 20 years we have lived in beautiful Panama. Our two grown-up children are now based in England.
Our journey began back in 1993 when Laurence’s company relocated us to Germany. From there, we moved to the United States, and later, Brazil.
In 2002, good fortune led us to Panama when Laurence set up his own business.
We were searching for a weekend getaway from the city, and after a day-long excursion, we stumbled upon Buenaventura. At that time, it was located along a dirt track off the Pan American highway and there were just a few houses and apartments under construction in Los Portales.
It was love at first sight! The breathtaking views over the lake out to the ocean, the Spanish-style architecture and the overall vision for the project won us over. We knew we had found our slice of paradise.
Home away from Home
We’ve been fortunate enough to travel to many beautiful places all over the world, both for business and pleasure. We’ve stayed in a wide variety of accommodation from converted barns and cow sheds and a seriously posh glamping tent to hotels of every brand and on every level. We’ve seen the good, the bad and the downright ugly!
Rather than stay in a hotel (especially if it’s for more than 2 nights), our preference is to find a short-term vacation rental. We like to have space to work and space between where we sleep, eat, drink and relax. We also like to choose whether we go out to eat, or just stay home, relax and watch TV.
Our ideal rental is a quality, nicely furnished place where we feel really at home (like our own property) and top of our list are good quality beds, furniture and furnishings and a very well-equipped kitchen.
That’s why you’ll find Villa Ibis a home away from home. With quality furnishings throughout, it’s thoughtfully decorated with luxurious touches including beautiful artwork and artifacts, all in a beach vibe. And if you like to cook, there are two BBQ’s one charcoal, one gas, plus two ovens in the spacious kitchen and all the appliances you will ever need. It’s a cooks dream!
We have high expectations and standards, and we bring those to our own home because when the house isn’t rented to guests, we enjoy time at Villa Ibis ourselves.

You only have to drive a couple of minutes to the restaurants and shops from the Villa and to keep you fully entertained, there is always something happening in the resort, from music events and sports competitions to art exhibitions and even an Artisan market.
